Hi! I’m Reilly Wood, a programmer and urbanist in Vancouver, 🇨🇦. My skillset is all over the place: I like performance work, developer tooling, user interfaces, and databases.
I graduated from UBC Computer Science in 2011 and spent the first 8 years of my career working at Orbis Investments (great people!). I worked on a lot of different things at Orbis: back-end, front-end, databases, and managing a small SRE team. After that I:
- helped Canalyst build out their next generation of tooling for equity analysts
- took time off to hack on Nushell full-time
- worked at a small startup building urban planning software in Rust+TypeScript
Now I’m at Datadog on the CoScreen team, working on collaboration tools in Rust and a bunch of other languages.
Bret Victor’s Inventing on Principle is my biggest influence — Bret’s principle (“creators need an immediate connection to what they’re creating”) is near and dear to my heart.
